Now the name Keb Darge has long been heralded for his impeccable digging pedigree in the sounds of Northern Soul and Deep Funk. Eight years ago whilst playing at one of his legendary funk nights, Keb Darge noticed bored faces on most of the females who had been dragged along by their partners. The whole thing had become 'too nerdy' and Keb himself had became bored with this lack of fun, recognising that he was probably more responsible than anybody for making it the case.

Luckily, he had been secretly collecting fifties Rockabilly, Surf, R&B, and 'Tittyshakers' for over 20 years and when he started slipping them into his funk sets, the girl's faces lit up immediately.

Not long after, Keb took the plunge and started a weekly Saturday night at Madame Jo Jo's in London where this "fun" music would be the focus. And "BOOM" it was a whooping success - pure, honest, jiving music from the 1950's with the incredible wit of

Keb has since done five compilations of the sound for BBE records which have become the label's bestsellers, including one withPaul Weller and another with Cut Chemist, whom he converted to the rockabilly fever, with a sixth compilation due out mid this year.

Keb Darge is touring the world as much as he ever has, however now his audiences are not just nodding approvingly...instead, the female dominated crowds are dancing their arses off with big smiles on their faces.
