JNR Single Launch w/ guests

With rich baritone vocals and unashamedly authentic lyrics, Brisbane singer-songwriter and performer JNR delivers heartfelt Country music - as showcased in his debut single ‘Down Low’, to be launched at his Brisbane Single Launch on Sunday 10 November 2019 at The Outpost Bar. 

This special event will include an exclusive first viewing of the ‘Down Low’ official music video (ahead of the official online single and music video release on Thursday 14 November), and will also feature performances by Cameron Milford, Megan Cooper and special guests. 

Influenced by an upbringing in Outback Australia and regular visits to Nashville, Tennessee, JNR (Paul Seils JNR) began performing in 2016, and has since been honing his Southern Country Rock/Outlaw Country style. 

‘Down Low’ is JNR’s first official original release, co-written with Tamworth Country Music Festival 2014’s Star Maker Winner Jared Porter and Nolan Wynne. With lyrics such as “leave the five to nine behind, tell no one where I’m going” and “the city limit sign is my welcome home,” JNR tells a candid, visually-evocative story depicting his perfect representation of a down-to-earth, relatable, modestly fulfilling life – being “high on life on the down low.”

In JNR’s words: “We often think, through marketing and social programming, that the ‘high life’ is the penthouse, champagne, fast-paced lifestyle. At the end of the day, I’ve learnt with age that I just want to get away to the middle of nowhere with close friends –that’s a fulfilling life for me.” 

JNR’s humble lyrical narrative is accompanied by quintessential Country instrumentation – with a memorable chorus melody, captivating guitar work and JNR’s engagingly warm vocal character rounding out the track. 

‘Down Low’ was recorded as a collaborative effort across Brisbane, Australia and Nashville, TN. The instrumentation was recorded by award-winning Australian American Music Producer Michael Flanders at his Lake View Studio in Nashville, with vocals recorded at Brisbane’s Alchemix Studios by Addison Joy. The track was mixed by Joy and mastered and produced by Flanders.

Shot at five locations across Brisbane and the Scenic Rim, including Brisbane’s Johnny Ringo’s and Mount Tamborine’s Bearded Dragon Hotel, the music video for ‘Down Low’ portrays the laid-back and unreservedly unassuming lifestyle that JNR describes in the song. Produced by Mick Borkowski (Synapse Creative – Videographer/Editor), the video features JNR’s ideal life of fulfilment – playing music, relaxing with friends, and driving his truck to his country home to appreciate the joy that life offers. 

This release is being supported by BEMAC (Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre), as JNR was selected as the successful artist for BEMAC’s EMERGE: Record and Release project for Logan. 

Since stepping out into the Country music scene, JNR has performed alongside local acts such as Vic Kena, and in venues such as Brisbane’s Lefty’s Old Time Music Hall and Tamworth’s Town Hall among other country bars, pubs, rodeos and RSL’s – including Logan’s Mayes Cottage and Logan Village Hotel as a featured artist with Logan Live Music Month in 2019.
