Walkaboutfish Records is excited to announce that Fijian-born multi instrumentalist Jay Hoad is bringing his six piece band back to the Adelaide Fringe Festival for a very special "home town" pre-release show, performing all new material from his upcoming album "Home is Where the Heart Is". The show kicks off from 6:30pm on Sunday, March 3 at the Governor Hindmarsh and will include special performances from the Fleurieu Rhythm Makers and Babylon Burning.
Says Jay, "SA has always been very special to me. I have spent the better part of my life here and the local friends and fans have always been unbelievably supportive of what I do. I want to give them a chance to get their hands on the new album before the rest of the world as a bit of a thank you". The March 3rd show is exactly one month before the official album release date of April 3rd, which coincides with the first show of yet another huge Australian National Tour.
Jay's relentless performance schedule over the past eight years has seen him perform at some of the world's most prestigious live music venues and music festivals throughout the Caribbean, Central and North America, Southeast Asia, Fiji, India, and Australia. Some of Jay's most recent acclaimed performances include WOMAD 2012, Uprising Festival (Fiji), Saarang World Cultural Festival (India), Port Fairy Folk Festival (Australia), and supporting the Jamaican super-group "The Wailers" on their Northeast American Tour.
The high-energy show sees Jay sitting in a cockpit of instruments including didgeridoo, dulcimer, dulsitar, cigar box guitar, wine box bass, weissenborn lap steel, harmonica, ocarina, djembe, percussion, loops, voice and then some. Lungs, hands and feet work in harmony as Jay fuses all genres of music, creating a sound that's difficult to believe comes from just one person.
The upcoming album is Hoad's most anticipated release yet. Song tracks were written in some of the most exotic (and some not so exotic) locations around the world, with intimate details of each location described in the album liner notes. "Home is Where the Heart Is" was recorded with renowned producer Craig Porteils (Gun & Roses, Terence Trent D'arby, Diesel, etc.) in Sydney and features many specials guests, including premier Fijian artist "Knox". As per usual, the artwork and lay out is breathtaking, designed to please all true lovers of art and music.
Says Jay, "This album is by far the best work I have done yet. It truly represents all aspects of what I have to offer and I feel it really captures the live sound of my show like never before. Working with Craig was an incredible experience - he brought out the best in me on every note. And with the evolving nature of music distribution, we really went to town on the artwork for this release as who knows how long physical CDs will still be available!"
