BACKSLIDERS

Australian blues legends Backsliders return to The Basement as part of International Blues Music Day, to launch their new release Heathen Songbook, an album of driving Delta and Mississippi Hill country blues sounds with original 21st Century new blues anthems with Australian overtones.

Dom Turner, Rob Hirst and Ian Collard (along with some very special guests) will play tracks from the new album as well as songs from their 30-year history.

Live Reviews

"A Backsliders show is like no other.." Far from the Mississippi delta, they took us to the water's edge, 'til we felt the riverbed beneath our feet" Rhythms Magazine 2015

"It is no wonder that The Backsliders are regarded as Australia's greatest blues outfit: they consist of four world-class exponents of their respective instruments." Glam Adelaide 2015

"If the band was any tighter it would burst." "This is one tightly rehearsed outfit, which may have something to do with the fact that they have been working together for many years and are masters of their respective crafts." BWW Reviews

THE LACHY DOLEY GROUP

International Blues Music Day is proud to Host Australia's most celebrated Blues Soul Rock Organ Player! He's been dubbed the Jimi Hendrix of the Hammond Organ, a player who can pump, pamper and occasionally pound the most unbelievable sounds from a keyboard: sounds that are intense, ferocious and sometimes transcendent.

Lachy Doley has seen much of the world, recording and touring with acts as diverse as Powderfinger, Glenn Hughes, Steve Vai, Jimmy Barnes, The Beautiful Girls - more recently recording on a new album of Joe Bonamassa's which came out in early 2015. It was 2010 though, that saw the birth of THE LACHY DOLEY GROUP and they have been heavily recording and touring ever since.

The group's latest album CONVICTION has taken Doley onto the world stage reaching #5 on the UK Blues Broadcasters Charts, #1 on the Australian iTunes Blues Charts and #1 on the Australian Blues & Roots Airplay Charts. Along with the group's 2 performances at the legendary BB Kings in Memphis in January, Doley has cemented himself as a world renowned Blues and Soul Artist

The PJ O'BRIEN BAND

"O'Brien is a talent to watch!" Tom Hyslop, Blues Revue Magazine USA

"An international blues star on the rise" Al Hensley, Rhythms magazine AUS

"A superlative guitarist" Danny Murphy, FHM Australia

Australian Blues sensation PJ O'Brien knows how to get a Blues party started. His fat and funky fretwork has been turning heads from Perth to Memphis, Chicago, Austin, London, Singapore and back again. Along with frequent flyer points PJ has gathered a swag of awards including: Blues Song of the Year, WA Music Awards (WAMIs); Music Oz Blues Artist of the Year; Sydney Blues Society Performer of the Year; Best New Talent and Song of the Year, 'Chain' Australian Blues Awards.

Driven by PJ's hard-edged, Chicago and Texas style guitar and accompanied by his smooth, soul-filled vocals, PJ'S music is receiving worldwide acclaim. His Blues exude a retro and modern feel simultaneously, delivering award-winning songwriting and spinetingling dynamics. Tom Hyslop of Blues Revue USA has labelled PJ 'a talent to watch' and Al Hensley of Rhythms Magazine Australia recently named him 'one of the brightest talents to emerge on the Aussie Blues scene in a long while....an international blues star on the rise'.
