BLUEGRASS PLAYED THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO BE PLAYED!
Doors 6pm | Show 7.30 pm
The Hamilton Hillbillies
Bluegrass pioneers Jim Fisher and Ian Simpson are often regarded as introducing Australia to the genre when they burst on to the live scene in the 70’s.
Fisher who had fallen in love with bluegrass records from the US looked to form a band and answered the phone to a then 16 year old banjo virtuoso Simpson. From there a 40 plus year legacy of red hot live bluegrass has followed. Along with legendary Freo fiddle playing, mandolin Picker Adam Gare the bands bluegrass legacy is second to none.
All members were used as band members on Paul Kelly’s legendary Bluegrass albums and were members of the world conquering Sensitive New Age Cowpersons. Rounding out the quartet is Fishers’ son Tom on double bass replacing the much loved recently departed Fred Kuhnl. If you want to see Bluegrass played the way it was meant to be played. Don’t miss the Hamilton Hillbillies!
