It's taken a little while but we are finally able to announce our next Melbourne show - the launch of our album 'I'll Probably Be Asleep' as part of Brunswick Music Festival on the 10th March at Howler. Hopefully we can see you there or if not at another show down the road - take care, Hachiku x'

German-honorary Australian bedroom producer Anika Ostendorf, the brainchild behind Hachiku, writes and produces her home-made dream pop (think: Grimes, Perfume Genius and early CocoRosie) from whichever bedroom she is currently inhabiting. She has just returned from opening for Courtney Barnett's solo tour across the USA, performed at Iceland Airwaves in 2019 and is confirmed to play SXSW as well as c/o pop Cologne in 2020.

Hachiku’s self-titled debut EP full of dreamy beats and twinkly melodies was released in June 2017 on Courtney Barnett’s label Milk! Records. Since then Ostendorf found a home and 4 piece band in Melbourne quickly becoming one of the most sought after live acts opening shows for The Breeders and José González across Australia and Jen Cloher and Snail Mail on their UK and Europe tours.

'Hachiku's ethereal and catchy melodies, highly tasteful, textural guitar playing and shimmering walls of sound create a unique brand of left of centre shoegaze, with each song taking the listener on a melodic journey' (THE MUSIC, Australia).

Come hear Hachiku's own brand of pop and if you're lucky they might play a Mariah tune in the encore.
