Hailing from the outer mountain and coastal regions of Melbourne, Australia, Ghost Towns of the Midwest release their album "Other Places" on limited edition 10” vinyl.

Formed around Melbourne Singer/Songwriter Cam Ewart, who has shared the stage with Tim Rogers, CW Stoneking, and many more, the album was recorded at the former Atlantis Studios in Port Melbourne.

Although most recording occurred on the eve of 2020, the swag of new songs somehow eerily suited the climate & feelings that the pandemic brought to our doors.

Tales of riding your bike through your old suburb, missing the city lights, losing family, and accepting/embracing the feeling of "Rusting", "Other Places" shows the band taking their own brand of "Melbournicana" well off the more beaten Alt-Country pathways.

Lead track "Used to Hide" evokes the nostalgia of youth as singer/songwriter Cam Ewart takes the listener out of their bedroom window into the night, as he talks of "Riding to your house, dodging cars, know every front lawn off by heart."

This is Nostalgia 101.

"Other Places" is a record that takes you from the City Lights, weaves through the suburbs, stops a while in heartbreak, and leaves you with "Rust" a track that came together on the spur of the moment in the studio. Caught in two takes, it settles the ears after the grander sonic moments of the album, and serves as a quiet kiss goodnight.
