Generation Women celebrates and amplifies women’s voices and creativity. Each month, six women of note read an original piece on a theme. Of those women, one is in her 20s, her 30s, her 40s, her 50s, her 60s, and her 70s+. Our diverse line-ups will make you laugh, cry, and think. Generation Women is a unique, intimate storytelling night that brings together women of all ages.

Winner Best Spoken Word at Sydney Fringe, and featuring in All About Women at Sydney Opera House in 2020.  Revel in great storytelling, unexpected voices and shared wisdom spanning the ages.

THEME: Red Hot Australian Summer: Stories of Summer Lovin’

It’s hot out. And that means we want to hear Stories of Summer Lovin’. This month, we’ve invited out all-star line-up to tell us a sexy story … or an attempt at sexy that went off the rails. A story set in summertime or somewhere equally hot. A tale about someone or something that they love, desire, or lust after. We know you love hearing about female desire —bring your libido as your plus one as you join us this February for a steamy night of hot and heavy multi-generational storytelling.

Team 20s: Urvi Majumdar is a stand-up comedian based in Melbourne, who is known for her dark and dry humour as well as her sass. She has performed regularly to sold put crowds at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and is a writer for Channel 10's 'The Project'.

Team 30s: Alex Ward - As a QLD’er living in Melbourne, Alex is always cold, which makes the warmth she brings to the stage all the more impressive. With personal, engaging and punch-line heavy comedy, Alex is one of Australia’s fastest rising comedians. Alex has appeared on ABC Comedy’s Up-late and Audible’s 2019 live stand-up series.

Team 40s: Devi Palanisamy enjoys every opportunity to share a good story. With more than 13 years of experience teaching Speech and Drama to children and being involved in Curriculum Development for Arts education, Devi has always believed in the power and magic of storytelling.

Team 50s: Belinda Caldwell’s career looks more like jungle gym rather than an escalator, encompassing a range of roles from nursing, public health, general practice policy, and leading roles in not for profits. Currently the CEO of Eating Disorders Victoria, she is driven by a passion for improving eating disorders journeys for affected individuals and their families.

Team 60s: Anne E Stewart is an acclaimed storyteller with an international reputation. A versatile performer Anne has the energy and voice to engage any audience. Her focus is on the shared stories of Australia honouring Indigenous, Celtic, Asian and World stories.

Team 70s: Markie Linhart worked as an assistant fashion director at Vogue Magazine before marrying and moving to Australia. Markie says she was at war with herself for years before transitioning aged 74-years old to end her internal battle. Markie is an active part of the LGBTI community. Motto: If you’re not living on the edge, you’re taking up too much space...
