Gathering some serious momentum since blowing the roof off BIGSOUND a few weeks ago, Brisbane gang WAAX are adding to their plan for world domination with the surprise release of their debut EP Holy Sick out Friday October 2.

After launching themselves firmly at the world in 2014 - hand picked by triple j unearthed to perform at BIGSOUND, the band returned this year, bigger, better and more ballsy. Under the guidance of hurricane front person Marie DeVita (who has been described as everything from 'utterly terrifying' to 'the human incarnation of Beelzebub') they've ammassed a slew of swelling supporters all gagging at the bit to propel them into the same league as Brisbane music's most sparkling exports.

Pricking ears nation-wide with their first two singles 'Wisdom Teeth' and 'I For An Eye' the band then locked themselves away in outer-Brisbane's Airlock Studios with producer Konstantin Kersting (Big Scary, The Belligerents, Mosman Alder) to collate the songs that would eventually become their 'Holy Sick' EP. These music babies were then lovingly placed in the capable hands of Scott Horscroft (Silverchair, The Presets, Empire of The Sun) for mixing at The Grove Studios.

The result? 11 minutes and 14 seconds of pure WAAX. A thick mix of angry feelings of insignificance in 'I For An Eye', a middle finger to disappointment in 'Holy Sick' and 'Wisdom Teeth' and a display of the vulnerability that manipulation brings on the stripped back 'CC Thugs'.

Since releasing their first single early last year, the band has supported the likes of Kingswood, Ecca Vandal and The Delta Riggs as well as a festival debut at Maroochy Fest alongside Alpine and Flight Facilities while also filling their own shows to the brim locally. With a tour and a spot on the Festival of the Sun lineup just announced, 'Holy Sick' EP is the surprise warm-up and accompaniment to a live assault on the senses later this year.
