About ‘Save our Strathbogie Forest’:

Strathbogie forest, on Taungurung land, in North East Victoria is an old growth forest and home to the Greater Glider (endangered), Sugar Glider, Legless Lizard, and the Powerful Owl. Strathbogie Forest has been under threat from loggers for the past decade and in response to this, the Save Our Strathbogie Forest Foundation was formed - a community organisation whose protests have protected the forest from logging.

After a huge political win a couple of years ago, which stopped the forest from being logged and established its protection. Save Our Strathbogie Forest has been presented with a new fight and is asking VicGov to heavily regulate planned burns of the forest (carried out by logging companies), ensuring that appropriate First Nations and community guidance must be taken before burning.

If no changes are made to the current planned burn legislation the burns will gradually eliminate the hollow-dependent wildlife, including the already endangered species such as the greater glider, and dramatically deteriorate the health of the forest.
