SARA O’CONNOR TRIO

A new face to country music, Sara has an impressive and varied musical CV. She trained as a classical musician, then spent 20 years performing as a jazz singer and has now found her home in country music. Sara brings her musical background to the heart of her songwriting and sound. Her style honours classic country & folk singer songwriters of the 70's.

Sara will be joined by Phil Stack (Thirsty Merc) on bass/guitar/vocals and Carl Dewhurst (James Morrison, Stu Hunter) on guitar/drums.

Sara has an exceptional co-writing/producing partner in Phil Stack. Together with lyricist Terresa Marie Allen, they have produced an EP called ‘Rollin’ and a full album - ‘Dark All Day’. Both recordings reflect on her travels to Antarctica and the Arctic.

She has entertained audiences at The Factory Theatre, The Basement, and Metro in Sydney; The Forum (Melbourne), and the Tivoli Theatre (Brisbane) just to name a few.

BEN FINK & MARK ELIOTT

An integral member of the Australian independent music scene for over 25 years, Ben has performed, recorded, composed, with acts such as The Whitlams, Lior, Christa Hughes, iOTA, Ali McGregor, Lily Dior, Moussa Diakite, Aya Larkin, Miriam Lieberman, Waiting for Guinness, The Stiff Gins, Voices from the Vacant Lot and King Clam.

Ben co-wrote The Whitlams single “Best Work”, Lior’s indie hit “I’ll Forget You” and Lily Dior’s “Love is like a River”. Current projects include alt-indie outfit, Close to Forever (with Dale Caldwell, Chris Abrahams, Danny Heifetz, Sam Golding and Peter Hollo), old school blues project the Loud Hailers (with Christa Hughes and Ivan Jordan), street gypsy jazz folk minstrel band Molto Bene and the Vague Arrangements (with George Washingmachine, Mark Eliott) as well as a solo project under his own name. His first solo album …”continue to breathe normally…” is an intricate musical tapestry that traverses elements of soul, folk, groove, blues and jazz, all brought together and unified by his unique and powerful voice.

Ben has worked variously as composer, musical director, guitarist, singer, and or performer with Sydney Opera House, Sydney Theatre Company, Stalker Theatre, Belvoir Theatre, Hayes Theatre, ABC Radio, Live Ideas (Hidden Sydney) and The Performance Space. Ben has composed and performed music for film, television, radio and theatre including Khyentse Norbu's feature film Travellers and Magicians, the multi-national collaborative outdoor art installation Nomanslanding with Turpin + Crawford, and the Waterloops concert (with Mark Eliott) at Janet Lawrence’s H20 Water Bar installation at Paddington Reservoir. He composed music for the 2019 indie film Emu Runner. Ben runs a successful private practice as a vocal coach and vocal technique instructor, and also teaches a rock band program at various schools in Sydney.

Mark Elliot is an internationally renowned master glass artist and teacher who also happens to be a master of the saxophone. Music and glass have been dancing together for all his creative life, and now he is on the cusp of completing his first book, after a lifetime of creating folk tales and myths for friends and family. A true renaissance man. One foot in the jazz world and the other firmly in folk roots, Mark's music has a powerful way of creating a deep connection with all who hear what he has to say. Mark and Ben have been playing together in various bands and projects for over 30 years, a continuing conversation that is constantly changing and evolving.

KID HANK & HIS OCKERSTRA

Sydney’s Kid Hank & His Ockerstra bring the vibrancy of the New Orleans French Quarter to your Inner West local. Their joyful rendition of NOLA street music takes you to a time gone by. Seasoned musicians that have played together for years, the band gives traditional sounds a modern twist.

Roaring horns soar over the chugging railway rhythm section to bring you a warm, familiar sound. Kid Hank & His Ockerstra use repertoire consisting of a mix between creole-clave based jazz, and standard steamboat swing. If you’re lucky, an old rag-time tune might be thrown in to add a little spice to the tasty musical gumbo.
