'How I Like It' Single Launch
Launching her new, anticipated single 'How I Like It', El Tee will play a full band show at Melbourne’s Gasometer Hotel in the intimate upstairs performance space with very special guests, Bad Bangs and Tamara & the Dreams (solo)
Having laid her roots in Melbourne, California artist El Tee writes honest songs about the perennial push-and-pull of holding space for yourself and giving it up for others. Listeners are swept up in stories of defining boundaries and negotiating narratives, delivered via introspective lyrics embedded in warm and nostalgic tones of instrumentation. El Tee’s songs saunter through chilling, intimate moments, and then drive hard and fast straight into the pit of your heart – all within the same few minutes.
Tinkering with nuanced folk and deeply introspective pop, ‘How I Like It’ navigates the space between identity, self-fulfillment, love, and loss – threatening the very existence of their distinctions at all. Recorded and mixed by Andrew McEwan, ‘How I Like It’ is a love song for the self-determined and a breakup song for the sheepish, delivered through a hopelessly sanguine lens that will resonate long after the final strum.
Releasing her debut single ‘Hold On’ and B-side ‘Inside’ to a reception of open arms in March 2018, El Tee – the moniker of Lauren Tarver – entered the Melbourne music community with drive and intent. She was met with open arms by community radio stations across Australia and a slew of impressive support slots for artists like Ryan Downey and Clea, building a devoted local following in a short 12 months. El Tee draws inspiration from the moods of Sharon Van Etten, Big Thief and Angel Olsen, and is now joined by a 4-piece band.
