The Espy Arts program excitably introduces Hey Drums to the line up of weekly art classes in 2020

Join us for a drink, dinner and conversation with like-minded music lovers in the iconic band room while learning the drums with Tanya Cavanagh from HER and The Volcanos.

This experience is designed for beginners of all ages.

Arrive from 6:45PM to put your name on the board for sessions starting at 7PM. Each lesson will run on intervals of 10 minutes. Tickets will be available on the door but to secure one of the 15 spots available we recommend booking with us online.

Hey Drums is a collective of female and gender minority drummers and percussionists engaged in community activities around Australia including a blog, print media, live performance and teaching events. The initiative was created in 2016 by Nat Grant, an independent drummer, percussionist, and composer from Melbourne.

Nat is passionate about subverting stereotypes around the instrument by sharing as many diverse stories as possible and creating a strong network of interesting, experienced, and awesome drummers. Check out more of their interviews with local and international artists here.

Tanya Cavanagh has accrued a very busy 20 years of experience in drum tuition and session drumming (live and in the studio). She has played in our very own Gershwin and toured nationally as the drummer for Spencer P. Jones and Aria award winning pop act Bachelor Girl, and as part of the opening acts for Joan Jett, The Divinyls, Wilson Pickett and The Cruel Sea on their Australian tours.

Come and enjoy your own 10 minute session on the drums with Tanya. Dinner and drinks available for purchase across the bar.
