DR SKETCHY'S Anti-Art School Presents TIM ROGERS
“Dr Sketchy’s will cure you of every boring art class you’ve ever been to.” ?- The Sunday Age, Melbourne Part art, part cabaret, all fun. Throughout history artists have paid beautiful courtesans to sit for their most intimate works. Lautrec, Klimt, Schiele, the list goes on. Now, you can join them…
Dr Sketchy's Anti-Art School is the little Brooklyn event that became a movement. Founded in 2005 by New York illustrator Molly Crabapple, Dr Sketchy's has become the world's premier alternative drawing event.
A boon to the art scene since its inception, Dr Sketchy's provides a space for people to draw the flourishing alternative scenes that might otherwise be inaccessible to the lone artist. Each month presents a variety of phenomenal performers and other unique muses, bringing together students, amateurs and professionals into one space to socialise and create together.
To kick off Dr Sketchy's 2013 season at The Toff in Town is rock'n'roll cabaret man, Tim Rogers. Best known as the frontman of Australian rock band You Am I, Rogers continues to perform as a solo artist around the country showcasing his prolific output, in recent years dedicating time to cabaret, movies and theatre.
In this intimate and rare performance, Tim will be taking center stage singing and performing cabaret as our audience gets up close and personal with their medium of choice.
Harxest Mag describes the event as "a room full of friendly people, an appreciation for art, beautiful models, unreal costumes and a truck load of fun times."
Dr Sketchy's has been running monthly sessions and specials events in Melbourne for over 6 years. Get your fill of sketching fun the last Sunday of every month with Dr Sketchy's Anti-Art School at The Toff in Town.
