Originally released in 2003, Severance was met with widespread critical acclaim,

and was voted Best Australian Metal Album in a 2003 Triple J listeners’ poll. The

album’s blend of melodic aggression and technical prowess cemented its status as

one of the most influential Australian metal releases of the era.

During their initial run from 2003 to 2011, DAYSEND built a formidable reputation in

the global metal scene. They toured extensively across Australia and internationally,

sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in metal,

including Slipknot, Trivium, Arch Enemy, In Flames, and Machine Head. Their

relentless touring schedule and high-energy performances earned them a loyal

following and a lasting legacy in the heavy music community.

Daysend’s 2025 lineup consists of original Severance-era members Simon

Calabrese (vocals), Aaron Bilbija (guitar), and Michael Kordek (guitar), joined

by returning Daysend member Jason Turnbull (bass) and new drummer

Mathew Piccolotto (ex-Switchblade).

Reflecting on the impact of Severance, primary songwriter and guitarist Aaron

Bilbija shares:

“Its been over 20 years since Severance's release, and we still get asked all the time

about playing these songs again. It's a really special album for us, so we're excited

to revisit this chapter and relive these iconic tunes one more time.”

Guitarist Michael Kordek shares his excitement for the reunion:

“Even after 20 years, Severance is an album people are still chucking on, asking

about, posting about, and ‘vibing’ with. It seems only fair to give our OG fans (and

even some newer ones) a chance to hear all those tunes cranked out one more

time… in the flesh!”

Vocalist Simon Calabrese adds:

“Severance was about cutting ties with the past. Maybe it's time to suture the fuck

out of some loose ends.”

With their return, Severance is now available on all major streaming platforms,

including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music.

Daysend’s 2025 tour dates will be announced shortly. Fans are encouraged to stay

tuned for updates and prepare for an explosive comeback that will reignite Australian

heavy music.
