Evening Records & Velvet Futon presents Dadbod, Iain T. McKelvey & Aislinn Young (Solo)

Three acts, one night at your favourite local bowlo - The Petersham Bowling Club

Iain T. McKelvey

Having sold out his single launch at the Petersham Bowling Club last Novembe , Iain T. McKelvey is excited for their first full-band show of the year to be back between the four walls of their favourite local Bowlo. Armed with a riveting live show, Iain T. Mckelvey and the band are keen to get back in the saddle.

Iain has that Drones-esque poetry to his music. It's raw and mangled, dark and edgy, going to the places that are too real for some.” - Nkechi Anele, Triple J

"Iain T. McKelvey plays this really striking blend of bluesy folk, complimented by his ability as a storyteller to paint these really vivid, small moments of life." - Lachlan Wyllie, FBi Radio

Dadbod

Dadbod features a revolving door of Sydney musicians with Daniel Host the groups consistent leader. Geared towards creating a music informed by 'modern nostalgia', the group takes explicit influence from successful artists of the past such as The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Eagles, Paul Simon and Steely Dan to name a few.

"You don't have to look far to see how to successfully make likeable music" says Dan on his approach to songwriting. "Great musicians have done this and we can lean on their understanding... and naturally, your own music will come out sounding like you - that's unavoidable".

Dadbod's latest release Rambo II exemplifies this affinity with artists such as The Beatles and Gilbert O'Sullivan. Featuring glassy lead guitars, swinging drums and walking bass.

Aislinn Young (Solo)

For Sydney-based singer-songwriter Aislinn Young, a driving desire to carve a unique sound within the broad blanket of indie-rock has been a journey of sonic self-discovery. Having found herself enamoured with the boundless avenues of expression the electric guitar offers, shes since moulded a sound that is both raw and euphoric.

Contrasting her folk twang with guitar licks, deep grooves, and gritty strumming, Young and her band sound more like Kurt Vile or Neil Young, but with her voice going beyond story-teller approach. Catch her performing live, however, and she unleashes a fiery but charming beast.

This is a Covid-safe show.  Pre-sale tickets only. No walk-ups.

Under 18s are welcome at the Petersham Bowling Club but must be accompanied by an adult.
