Australian singer-songwriter Harmony Byrne carries a powerful voice that can both devastate with muscular ferocity and affirm with skilled restraint. Crafting a unique, unexpected blend of styles, her sharp, moving songwriting captures listeners from the first note. Today (1/22), she shares a new EP, "The Songs I Sing When No One Is Listening." A collection of stripped-down songs, the 5-track project was written and recorded during quarantine, in solitude out in the Australian Bush.
Gena Rose Bruce’s debut album Can’t Make You Love Me is an intoxicating ride through love, lust, surrender and revival. Bruce’s vocals drive this album; a stirring force amidst the pulsing rhythms, echoes of Mazzy Star and Lynchian undertones. A vibrant youthfulness and deep maturity underpins her writing, allowing songs to swing effortlessly between earnest introspection and cool detachment with utter sincerity. With it’s infectious melodies and biting lyricism, Can’t Make You Love Me is as playful as it is confessional. Released via Dot Dash Recordings, the album received critical acclaim from international and local media, including NPR All Songs Considered Best New Music, Album Of The Week at The Sydney Morning Herald, Brisbane Times, Byte FM Germany and Radio 100,7 Luxembourg, Record of The Day (UK) and radio play on KEXP, KCRW, NPR, Radio X UK and more. Following the release of Can't Make You Love Me, Gena was nominated for the Australian Music Prize and Best Breakthrough Act in the Music Victoria Awards, and was invited to open shows for Kevin Morby, Orville Peck, Jay Som and more.
