COAST, Arcing Wires and Josh Meader Trio

Art As Catharsis presents COAST, Arcing Wires and Josh Meader trio - three Sydney acts who are pushing the boundaries of jazz.

Across two records COAST have produced some of Australia's finest, most intricately textured progressive jazz.

Lead by drummer and bandleader Paul Derricott (who has performed live with Aloe Blacc, The Beautiful Girls and Charenee Wade) COAST explore heavy grooves with a cinematic, and sometimes psychedelic flair.

Arcing Wires are a hard band to pin down. Their music is as equally informed by progressive metal as it is jazz, drawing from acts like Animals As Leaders, Kneebody, Donny McCaslin and Periphery.

After the release of their debut album Prime in 2020, they are rightly recognised as one of the most eclectic, ambitious and forward-thinking bands to come out of Australia’s jazz scene in years.

Josh Meader is a guitar virtuoso who has amassed a considerable following online. His compositions draw from jazz fusion and progressive rock, balancing musicianship with clever songwriting, groove and odd time signatures.
