Chain – Living Blues History
It is impossible to mention blues music in Australia without the band ‘Chain’ being considered a pivotal point in the development of what has become known as ‘Oz-Blues’
With major hit singles in the early seventies like “Black ‘n Blue’, ‘Judgement’ and Matt Taylor’s ‘I Remember When I Was Young’ plus a gold album ‘Toward The Blues’, no other act has influenced original blues-based music in Australia as has ‘Chain’.
The magic combination of Matt Taylor (vocals/harmonica) and Phil Manning (guitar/vocals) - both with highly successful solo careers - linked to the powerful rhythm section of Dirk Dubois (bass/vocals) and Trapper (drums) produces a unique sound, born from a deep love and understanding of traditional blues music and a desire to interpret this sublime form of music in an original way.
Now, 52 years after it was formed, Chain is still the pre-eminent exponent of progressive ‘Oz-Blues’ and does so with amazing energy and the experience of a lifetime in blues.
Appearing at the Spotted Mallard on Monday 9th March 2020 at 2pm.
