The hallowed stage of New York’s CBGB’s may well be the birthplace of punk rock and at the forefront of that movement were the mighty Ramones, along with disco punks Blondie and New Jersey heavyweights the Misfits. Dust off your leather jackets, pull out your bright pink lippy, spike your hair and get down to the Basement to celebrate three bands that changed the rock ‘n roll landscape forever.

For more than two decades The Ramones were relentless in their quest for world domination. They recorded 14 albums, had countless hits, sold millions of t-shirts and cut a path through a swarm of wannabes. Even though all the original Ramones are dead they are too tough to die and Canberra’s own Ramones chapter (C.B.Ramones) pay tribute to the pioneers of punk. GABBA GABBA HEY !

Blondie graduated from the New York scene but unlike many punk bands of the time they brought with them a pop sensibility mixed in with the soul of reggae and infused with the fun and glamour of disco. Swap your Dr. Martens boots for dancing shoes as  Parallel Lines present a set chock full of their greatest hits.

Modern heavy music owes a huge debt to The Misfits. Everyone from Metallica to Guns ‘n Roses have laid down at the shrine of these horror punks from Jersey. Enjoy their legacy of brutality as the Astro Zombies wind up an evening full of classic punk rock.
