Camarano - Shadow Calling EP launch

Fresh off the success of indie-pop delight "When I had Infinity", Singer-songwriter-producer Mat Cammarano has announced the release of his EP Shadow Calling forMay 3rd and announced a co-headlining run of tour dates with Eden Mulholland.

About the EP, Mat explains; "Shadow calling is a metaphor for our real calling. Its shape is similar, its contours feel tantalizingly the same. But a shadow calling entails no real risk. If we fail, the consequences are meaningless to us. The EP is about navigating your 20s, of self discovery and dancing with doubt. It's a reminder to continue creating."

After being fortunate enough to receive funding for the EP from the Department of Culture and the Arts, Mat hired Fremantle Recording Studios to record the tracks and then finished them off himself back at his own studio setup. Mat says the grant lessened the burden but increased the internal pressure to make sure the EP was something special.

The biggest change for Mat came with wanting the EP to sound like a band rather than the solo effort of his last release, so he called in friends Cobie Mason (Drums), Matt Shehan (Bass), Brad Green (keyboard), and James Shehan (guitar). This was the first time he had let other people in on his creative process, enjoying getting his friends involved, as he wanted to allow the space for new ideas and sharing the fruits/joy/burden. "I really wanted to place emphasis on the sentiment and lyrics in these songs. I wanted to avoid overthinking it, avoid unnecessary production and for it to be timeless, classic."
