Both Directions at Once

DSUS Jazz Quartet pays homage to John Coltrane’s Lost Album
Led by renowned multi award-winning drummer Daniel Susnjar (Chick Corea, Terence Blanchard, Dave Grusin), the DSUS Jazz Quartet features a selection of Australia’s finest jazz musicians - all with international performance experience and winners of multiple awards for performance and compositional excellence -

Daniel Susnjar - drums
 Jamie Oehlers - saxophone
 Harry Mitchell – piano
Soon Yong Lee - acoustic bass

For this special one-off concert, the DSUS Jazz Quartet will be presenting an homage to John Coltrane’s lost album “Both Directions at Once” which was released in 2018 for the first time. Originally recorded in 1963, it features the classic Coltrane Quartet lineup in full force (McCoy Tyner - piano, Jimmy Garrison - bass, Elvin Jones - drums) delivering standout renditions of classic songs including “Impressions,””Nature Boy” and “Vilia” – paving the way for iconic offering “A Love Supreme” in 1964.

Considered by critics, musicians and fans alike to be one of the great jazz artists of all time, saxophonist John Coltrane’s (1926-1967) influence on musicians remains strong to this day. Fellow saxophonist and living jazz legend Sonny Rollins described the discovery of this album as being likened to "finding a new room in the Great Pyramid."

The superb acoustic properties and warm atmosphere of the Duke of George make it the perfect venue for an unforgettable night out of dinner and exciting music for listening. An event not to be missed.
