DOORS 3PM // KITCHEN OPEN // SHOW STARTS 3PM

Blue Grassy Knoll have come out of remission to play an EXTREMELY rare band gig. Better known as masters of the silent filmscore accompaniment, they have toured every continent the world, garnering 5 Star reviews from Edinburgh Festival to Broadway, and performed in places as far away as Europe,  Brazil, South Africa, China and even New Zealand!

But this gig will be a flashback to their early days as an indie folk/punk band in the mid-to-late 90's when they played inner city Melbourne pubs such as the Punters Club and Empress Hotel, writing original material and performing inventive covers. In this bygone era they quickly developed a cult following due to their high energy performances, sharp musicianship, and the charismatic and humourous abilities of front person Simon Barfoot. They were, in their heyday, the darlings of RRR & JJJ and even played as the house band on ABC's Saturday morning youth culture show Recovery.

These days BGK are older, and perhaps slightly more mature, but they are excited to revisit some of this early repertoire, if their arthritic fingers and dodgy backs will allow them. Simon is back from London, defying the pandemic and a thinning hairline.

They will be joined on the bill by long time friends and Melbourne musical compadres The Band Who Knew Too Much (whom they last shared a stage with in Amsterdam, circa 2000), in a feat of time-defying endurance that will take you back to the golden years of 90's.
