The acronym “TTYDTM” at first glance may have no obvious meaning, but after first listen “Things That You Do To Me” will be embedded into your head. With melodic keys and smooth vocals that make it inescapably catchy, the band experiment with electronic sounds on this tune without losing sight of their soulful, hip-hop inspired roots.

"The song refers to being afraid of your own self. Afraid of depression, afraid of the darker corners of your mind,” explains frontman Will Scullin. “The song was inspired by the first day I woke up not feeling heart broken anymore some time ago. Being alone cured my sadness and helped me appreciate myself and what I’m capable of more," he says.

Big Words continue to make a name for themselves on the live circuit, with ‘TTYDTM’ becoming a fan favourite well ahead of official release. They performed the song at the Beyond the Valley main stage over New Year’s Eve, as well as when supporting Tash Sultana on a national tour, which saw them playing right before triple j Hottest 100 heroes Ocean Alley.

The five-piece funk-pop-R&B group from Melbourne led by childhood friends Will Scullin and Kieren Lee have a style reminiscent of contemporary heavyweights Frank Ocean, The Internet, Rex Orange County and Mark Ronson. The group has managed to clock more than 5 millions streams on Spotify alone, with coveted placements on the highly influential Fresh Finds, Colors and Viral Hits playlists with the genre-bending “Slow Dance”— and debut single “The Answer”.

As well as featuring on festival bills around Australia including Beyond the Valley, warming up for Floating Points at Duke Street Block Party and Pineapple Fields QLD, the band have sold out all headline shows since the release of their debut EP in 2017 and are set to take on bigger venues for their next run of shows in Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane.

Big Words are often coined as Melbourne’s best kept secret, but with a tune this contagious they won’t stay a secret much longer.
