The Shang

In the Summer of 2016, four young men hailing from the depths of South-West of Sydney, the green pastures of Camden if you wish, decided that maybe it was time for a new beginning. This previously spoken of ‘new beginning’, on a warm summer night, at none other than the Camden Bowling Club, was to be the formation of The Shang. An infusion of dub, psych and old school, no-nonsense rock and roll was deemed to be the pathway that the four-piece would journey down.

In 2017, with a great amount of effort and deliberation, their debut single was born, and has since amassed upwards of half a million plays on Spotify. In order to follow this, with further effort and deliberation, their debut EP was released in the winter of 2017, titled The Kiki EP. Since then, The Shang has released two more singles and played countless shows in and around Sydney, and at the start of 2019, embarked on a

national tour, growing their audience significantly, and selling out the world renowned/ universally recognised Oxford Art Factory Gallery Bar.

In recent times, The Shang embarked on their four-date ‘East Coast Tour’, pulling audiences left, right and centre, eventuating in another SOLD OUT Sydney show at none other than The Lord Gladstone, Chippendale. The four horsemen of the far South West have since released two singles, ‘Long Way Up’ and ‘Games ft. Rops1’ receiving triple j unearthed rotation, plays on ‘Home and Hosed’ and ‘2020’ with Richard Kingsmill. With praise from industry heavyweights, such as their own parents, their heavily obliged mates, and further heavily obliged significant others, The Shang are thought to be setting down a path travelled by many, but conquered by few. Stay alert, for the tale of The Shang from The Wild (South) West will continue...

‘I don't know what a Shang is, but if it sounds like this I love it.’ - Celline Narinli (triple j unearthed)

Major Arcana

Isolated, disconnected, and ignored by the community surrounding them, Major Arcana come together mid 2018, dedicated to fiercely opposing the music that trends throughout their hometowns in the Southern Highlands, Australia.

Armed with raw riffs and a colossally distorted bass driven sound, guitarist/vocalist Liam Wilson, drummer Micheal Vining and bass guitarist Dominic Bouletare take it to the limit with what’s sonically possible. Utilising multiple effects and forms of amplification, along with drumming that is beyond powerful, the trio can easily be mistaken for a 5 or 6 piece when listening — with both guitar and bass at some points being able to seamlessly swap and combine their roles. Why? ‘Cause why not!

Major Arcana have been building up their fanbase, slogging it out through the Sydney, Wollongong and Camden scene having their debut single ‘Syndrome’ under their belt. The boys have been spending months on end working in the studio with producer Jack Nigro and self mixing their upcoming work, due for release 2021.
