Be A Better Human - Black Dog Institute Discussion
Arc are bringing back the ‘Be a Better Human’ program. This campaign asks every person at Arc to commit to learn more about people from diverse backgrounds to them and improve their inclusive behaviour. Be a Better Human asks all of us to actively unlearn racism, sexism, ableism, and discrimination. But we can’t just talk the talk. We must walk the walk. That’s why we are offering a series of training opportunities to all Arc employees that will offer you the skills to confidently work with and for people of diverse experience. We all have a part to be more inclusive. So join us as we strive to be better humans.
Our first session to kick off 2021 is focused around mental health. As we have all had a strange and challenging 12 months, Arc has partnered with the Black Dog Institute to have an open and safe conversation focused around Mental Health Awareness.
The Black Dog Institute is a Medical Research Institute and a global leader in translational mental health research. We harness the latest technology and other tools to quickly turn our world-class research findings into clinical services, education and e-health products that improve the lives of people with mental illness and the wider community.
Speaker: Michael van Dyk
Michael is a Workplace Engagement Manager at the Black Dog Institute where he has worked for the last 6 years. Currently Michael is Managing the NSW Manager and Mental Health Skills Training Programs which are funded by the NSW Government. Michael also delivers lived experience presentations, where he shares his own personal mental health story to help educate audiences about mental health and illness, and to break down the stigma associated with mental illness.
