Basenji heads to UC for Semester 2 O-Week

Young visionary and master of the bright dance floor beat, Basenji is one of Sydney’s most exciting musicians. In late 2013, Basenji burst onto the scene with a unique blend of hard hitting dance beats and uplifting melodies. He was quickly snapped up by Future Classic and released his debut single, ‘Dawn’ -a track filled with bright, colourful bass and intermittent dog barks which sailed to the top of the Hype Machine and iTunes Electronic Charts. Following its release, Basenji was named FBi Click Producer of The Year in 2014, played his first Boiler Room and performed in the iconic Sydney Opera House for VIVID Live.In 2015, Basenji followed up his single with his debut EP, Trackpad. Staying in step with his own signature sound, the EP featured eloquently produced tracks such as ‘Heirloom’, ‘Petals’ and ‘Can’t Get Enough’. The EP has since accumulated over 14 million Spotify plays.A favourite on the Australian live circuit, Basenji has toured the country multiple times, playing some of the most esteemedfestivals including Splendour In The Grass, Beyond The Valley, Listen Out and Curveball. He’s also making waves overseas, performing at Pukkelpop in 2017 and touring alongside Flume in the US.Basenji’s music transcends dance-floors, his tracks have beenfeatured in Hollywood films and popular video games. After a two year hiatus, Basenji is back with new material -and he hasn’t shied from pushing the boundaries of pop music. His first offering of 2017 was ‘Don’t Let Go’, featuring Australian born LA based vocalist Mereki.In late 2017, Basenji teamed up with Australian vocal powerhouse, Tkay Maida to produce ‘Mistakes’. Instantly absorbing, Basenji’s punchy production floats between tender piano keys and casting horns.
