FREE ENTRY // MUSIC & FUN // COMEDY FESTIVAL AFTER PARTY FROM 8.30PM

The Brunswick Ballroom proudly presents the Ballroom Supper Club.

Three free nights of fun, music and beverages from 10pm until close.

On Thursday 15th & Friday 16th April our featured artist is Joshua Moriarty who will be tickling the ivories on the Ballroom's brand new and very stylish grand piano, C6 Yamaha.

Joshua Moriarty is a member of Miami Horror, alt-rock outfit All The Colours and Melbourne cinematic trio TELENOVA. In September 2017 he released his debut solo record War Is Over and followed it up with his second full-length ‘Romantica’ in 2019.

Moriarty’s latest record ‘Melancholia’ is a more personal and introspective collection with his vocals taking centre stage on the majority of the tracks. Produced by Tony Buchen (Tim Finn, The Preatures, Smashing Pumpkins) in Los Angeles it features a wide array of incredible guest musicians and session players including legendary drummer Joey Waronker (Beck, Roger Waters, Atoms For Peace), keyboard whizz John Carroll Kirby (Frank Ocean, Blood Orange, Solange), double bassist Alan Hampton (Sufjan Stevens, Andrew Bird, Robert Glasper), Harpist Mary Lattimore (Kurt Vile, Sharon Van Etten, Thurstron Moore) and plenty of other musicians of the highest calibre.

In his life as a frontman Moriarty has graced the stages of Coachella, Live-Out Mexico City, Breakfest Colombia, Big Day Out, Groovin’ The Moo, Summadayze and lots more he can't quite remember right now..

As a DJ Moriarty has played some of hippest clubs in LA including The Standard, The Roosevelt, Tenants Of The Trees as well as events in Mexico City, Australia and numerous Miami Horror DJ slots around the world.

Over the years Moriarty has collaborated and released music with Chris Taylor (Grizzly Bear), Chris Cester (Jet), Peking Duk, Dhani Harrison, Kimbra, I Know Leopard, Slum Sociable and many other great artists.

He is also the host of music podcast 'The Bottom Of It' which has been going for 4 years now and he has candidly interviewed Reggie Watts, Queens Of The Stone Age and Mark Mothersbaugh from DEVO to name just a few.

Acclaim for Joshua Moriarty:

“ Romantica is a return to the real. A wonderful piece and a musician’s record that transports you to a warm, pre-21st century world.” Dhani Harrison (songwriter/producer)

“Josh is a romantic. There are bass lines and harmonised guitars, a plush organ, mellotrons and slow grooves, it feels like Nabokov and Stereolab entwined in some sort of strange love affair. It starts with innocence and ends with a crush.” Francois Tetaz (producer/composer)
