DUE TO THE CURRENT COVID RESTRICTIONS - THIS SHOW HAS BEEN POSTPONED AGAIN New Date TBA

SUNDAY 20TH JUNE 3pm – 8pm

Cool Sounds, Snowy Band, Martin Frawley and Emily Ulman.

BALLROOM BLITZ is a 3 day festival at the newly established Brunswick Ballroom

It is a showcase of newish and emerging acts which the venue believes were primed to play the Australian summer festival circuit in 2020/2021 as well as touring interstate and overseas if it wasn't for the pandemic.

Melbourne’s COOL SOUNDS make records that move deftly and playfully through indie-rock, pop, and alt-country. The band are defined by their signature guitar lines, as catchy as any chorus, as well as a beloved live show that sees six musicians crowded onstage. Lead singer and songwriter Dainis Lacey has been making music as Cool Sounds for years, but the band found a unique sound on their 2018 album Cactus Country and 2019’s More To Enjoy and most recent release Bystander.

Liam ‘SNOWY’ Halliwell has been one of Melbourne’s busiest musicians over the past decade. He’s written and played on more songs and in more bands in Melbourne, than anyone would care to write or read, however his new project SB (Snowy Band) might be his finest and most sincere work to date. Self-produced and self-recorded, Audio Commentary is a work that Halliwell laboured over and one which sees his craft refined to its absolute finest. To pull the project together, Halliwell enlisted the help of friends Emma Russack, Nat Pavlovic (Dianas) & Dylan Young (Way Dynamic), each of whom bring a complimentary piece to the band, both recorded and live.

It has been quite a while since MARTIN FRAWLEY played a live. The former Twerps frontman will be returning to the live stage with friend Dan Kelly playing songs from his solo album Undone at 31 and possibly some new tunes. Frawley has also been producing the Dive For Your Memory podcast since the 2020 lockdown, so far 14 episode that delve deep into music with special guests.

Direct from the heart of Melbourne, independent singer-songwriter EMILY ULMAN has developed her own distinctive brand of storytelling, swirling candour and wry metaphor delivered with a clear voice. 2015 marked the release of Emily’s latest album, 'Wear it Well', followed the unveiling of its two singles ‘Scratches’ and the just-released ‘Hurricane’ – which received airplay on triple j, Double J, Triple R, PBS and more – described as “Simple sentiment done intricately, and totally shattering for it” by Jake Cleland, Strine Whine.
