FRIDAY 11th JUNE 6pm – 1am

Goldminds, Dr Sure’s Unusal Practice, Redspencer, Easy Browns and Steel Wheels

BALLROOM BLITZ is a 3 day festival at the newly established Brunswick Ballroom across the Queens Birthday Long Weekend.

The  Brunswick Ballroom has invited 20 splendid and diverse acts to be part of our three day event featuring 20 acts.

It is a showcase of newish and emerging acts which the venue believes were primed to play the Australian summer festival circuit in 2020/2021 as well as touring interstate and overseas if it wasn't for the pandemic.

GOLDMINDS are a Melbourne four-piece who shoot straight from the hip and waste no time in conjuring their own breed of formidable chaos. Drawing power from her femme consciousness, singer Courtney Constantinou is unapologetic, lawless and commanding, delivering her message with finesse and fury. Their 2020 album Signals was one of the finest releases that shouldn’t be overlooked and long celebrated after lockdown.

REDSPENCER: Songwriter - David McMillan and his younger brother, Aiden hail from the rural Northern NSW town of Glen Innes, where they were homeschooled and raised within the hypnotic clutches of the Pentecostal Christian World. Eventually they found themselves on the Gold Coast where they backslid into the bustling surf rock scene. By the end of this Era 'Redspencer' was born. Finally Arriving in Melbourne in 2013, a series of singles garnered a small but devoted following. 2015 saw the group release their debut EP followed up by an album the following year ('Perks'). David took a break from the band shortly after the album to pursue drumming in other local projects while slowly chipping away at the second album, 'Dreamworld' to be released in 2021.

One of Melbourne’s most dynamic lives acts DR SURE’S UNUSUAL PRACTICE would have a monstrous year in 2020 if we hadn’t gone into lockdown, and they’re now making up for lost time.   After a big 2019 Dr Sure's Unusual Practice are back in a big way! DSUP started out as the more political / personal side-project of Dougal Shaw (Cracodile, Hot Sludge Fundae, Cash Savage & The Last Drinks) when they appeared on the Melbourne scene fully formed, Dougal has now been joined by Miranda Holt, Jake Suriano and Jack Mccullagh.

EASY BROWNS are back in Naarm/Melb after a huge hiatus and shortening their name, losing ‘Truck Stop Chicken Jam Band’. They recently launched their third album "Down On The Farm” and wrote heaps of new tunes over lockdown. Easy Browns proved that they are the ultimate party band releasing a cover of "Nutbush City Limits", they switched up the line-up, and they are back. In black. Or maybe brown.

STEEL WHEELS are a new band in town who are fast making a name for their beer soaked blues and rock tunes.
