Kiki House of Silky is a collective body of Sydney based QTPOC artists. Kiki means ‘to laugh’ or ‘have fun’ in our community, meaning the kiki scene is a youth-led, pro-social subset of the larger mainstream house and ball community. Silky combines a diverse blend of cultures performing together to pay homage to both their ancestry and the iconic legends past and present of the ballroom scene. Silky embodies movement that challenges the idea of feminine and masculine roles within today’s society. Silky is an exciting step into growing the infant vogue scene of Australasia with the intent of creating more safe and inclusive space for the vogue QTPOC community.
