Bexley North Hotel - back to life with Live "Oz-Rock' Entertainment

Back To The North

The Bexley North Hotel was an iconic venue for Live 'Oz Rock' Entertainment throughout the late 60s, 70s and 80s with Bands such as Cold Chisel, Dragon, Skyhooks, Mental as Anything and many more gracing its stage during that time.

To the many who lived around the area, Earlwood, Marrickville, Kingsgrove and other surrounding suburbs, it became the place to go, the place to share a drink and watch Oz Rock at its best. Schools like Canterbury Boys High, Canterbury Girls, Kingsgrove North, Fort Street, De la Salle Marrickville and St Brigid's provided a steady flow of patrons to the Hotel during those years; some even waiting till they were eighteen before setting foot in the venue, albeit not many.

Quite a few were also inspired and set off on their musical endeavours, including quite a few local bands, Judge Jeffries, Ishtar and others.

Peter Northcote was certainly one of those that had their eye on the musical prize. Peter, living in Earlwood and going to Canterbury Boys High has spent a lifetime sharing his passion for guitar and music. Peter has played with the best of them, Dragon, Richard Clapton and many more, as well as putting together a myriad of his own shows.

Others from the area that are still adorning the stages these days include Tony Townsend and Claude Poffandi, original members of Judge Jeffries and now in Blow. Warwick Glover, also from Judge Jeffries, is now with Wild Cherry in collaboration with Georgie Steffe, the man who can say that he was on Countdown with his band U-Turn!

Well, it all comes together on this one night, that will see a collaboration of all these acts to put on a great night of reminiscing to relive some of those great memories that were shared and to catch up with so many old friends.

It certainly promises to be a memorable night to give 'the North" a new lease of life for this event and hopefully more. Please come and share a night with all.
