Art of Fighting, one of the most revered and acclaimed Australian bands of the 00s, have returned with their first new music in twelve years - a single ‘Genie’. In April, Art of Fighting will play their first shows in over a decade in Sydney & Melbourne.
For more than a decade, Art of Fighting were an oasis of grace and elegance in the world of Australian independent music. First album Wires edged out Magic Dirt, Something For Kate & You Am I to win an ARIA award in 2001 for Best Alternative Release. ??The band toured extensively, including trips to the UK, Europe, Japan and Taiwan, released second album Second Storey in 2004 (on renowned label Bella Union), then third album Runaways in 2007.
?Art of Fighting played their last live shows in 2008, although they say “we never really decided to go on hiatus and we never broke up.” In 2012 they begun a fairly measured process of rehearsing, writing and recording for a new album with drummer Marty Brown at the helm.
