Aquila Young returns to the fold in 2019, bigger, braver and bolder before.

'Closer' is the first taste of new music since 2017's 'Reckoning', which pricked the ears of Triple J Unearthed and Meg Mac. The production explores sonic textures through vibrant synths, eastern percussion, gritty hip hop drums and a soundscape reminiscent to the opening credits of a James Bond film.

Co-produced by Birds of Tokyo's - Adam Spark, 'Closer' stays true to Aquila's signature, cinematic sound, but alludes to a more experienced, mature taste of music to come.

Co-written with Sydney based songwriter/multi-instrumentalist 'MOOKHI', the song represents empowerment.

"It's about facing fears and remaining steadfast, getting 'closer' to the vision and not giving up."

Fusing elements of hip-hop and R&B with world instruments, 'Closer' represents a new phase for Aquila Young, bolder and braver than before.

Aquila will be supported by Lily Budiasa.
