Ben Mastwyk & His Millions Album Launch with special guests Dan Brodie, The Ironbark Brothers, Loretta Miller and DJ Dave Heard + Luxe Country Rhinestone label launch + Em Jensen photographic exhibition.

After a strange but busy year, Alt-country/Americana artist Ben Mastwyk is set to release his third album “Living on Gold Street”. With the debut single and title track reaching number one on iTunes Australian Country charts, and a suite of subsequent singles garnering heavy rotation on ABC and solid air play on radio across the country, there has been much anticipation in this album. With his rhinestone-clad band The Millions, Mastwyk will take to the stage to deliver the album in its entirety. Described as “Seventies country-soul glam with lashings of cosmic American pedal steel and psych-guitar glitz” (COUNTRY UPDATE MAGAZINE), Mastwyk has fused his authentic songwriting with an electrified psychedelic take on country rock. Despite the glitz and showmanship, Mastwyk delivers songs that are "rich with meaning and truth…real and raw, just as true country music should be” (RHYTHMS MAGAZINE). As POST TO WIRE puts it, with “a direct line to heartache, Mastwyk has captured the soul of country music."

Joining Mastwyk is acclaimed singer-songwriter, Dan Brodie, returning to the stage to perform songs from his rapturously received 2019 album, Funerária do Vale. Recorded at The Shrimp Shack in Melbourne by producer and multi-instrumentalist, Mic Hubbard (Eagle and the Worm, Ben Mastwyk, Spencer P Jones), Funerária do Vale showcases Brodie’s musical influences, in parts tender and haunting, at other times loose and spirited. Since 1999, Brodie has captured audiences around the world, releasing a succession of albums (eight in total) which have been nominated for numerous awards and taken him to the U.S. and across Europe playing such iconic venues as CBGB in New York, The Continental in Austin, The Exit/In in Nashville and The Olympia in Paris. Brodie's talents are recognised in his native Australia with two ARIA Awards as well as an unfaltering reputation as an incredible live performer with acclaimed appearances at festivals such as the Byron Bay Bluesfest, Tamworth, Big Day Out, Splendour in the Grass, Port Fairy and numerous European festivals.

Further embellishing the evening will be the official launch of Luxe Country Rhinestone, complete with a runway show hosted by spoken-word artist Sean M Whelan. With a personal fondness for ol’ fashioned, made-by-hand techniques Luxe Country Rhinestone sources one off, pre-loved & vintage clothing & accessories then embellishes each piece with multitudes of Rhinestones to create a new, dazzling story. All items are hand stoned (yep, each single one is placed with love) featuring unique designs & high quality, diamond shine crystal Rhinestones ensuring the brightest sparkle possible. Don’t miss out on seeing these western-inspired, sparkling beauties for yourself modelled by some of Melbourne’s premier country musicians.

AND the launch of new 35mm and Super-8 works by photographer Em Jensen. Heavily inspired by the 70s, the Australian outback and sunlight, Jensen joined Mastwyk and his Millions on a road-trip to outback Victoria to capture images for the album release which will be exhibited on the night.

Also joining the bill are twin singing’ hillbilly wonders, The Ironbark Brothers. Retelling the stories of yesteryear, this beloved duo will pluck a fine selection of bush ballads and western folk from the songbook of our past.

Oh! And the incredible Loretta Miller (Jazz Party, Dusty Millers) will pop by for a lil’ honky tonk set, so slip on those dancing shoes!
