ALLEN STONE ANNOUNCES A RUN OF SOLO INTIMATE SHOWS

“… glimmers of Al Green, Bill Withers, Curtis Mayfield, George Clinton, Prince and a bit of Sting.” New York Times

Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Allen Stone has today announced a run of intimate solo shows in Melbourne this July. The Chewelah born soul troubadour, who currently resides in Melbourne, will play dates at Melbourne’s Night Cat.

Just over a year after Stone’s Bluesfest appearance and headline shows were cancelled, he is finally back to enamour Australian fans and share his critically acclaimed 2019 album Building Balance in a live intimate setting. After the challenges of 2020, Stone’s duo of shows feels like a revelation.

Building Balance is a textured amalgam of R&B and soul, which saw Stone draw inspiration from ‘70s funk and punctuate his music with modern pop flourishes. Equal parts sentimental and danceable, Allen Stone’s inimitable upper register and hook-laden arrangements garnered praise from American Songwriter, Line Of Best Fit, Tone Deaf, Beat Magazine and won notable fans from Ash London to Flex Mami.

About Allen Stone

Hailing from Chewelah Washington State, Allen Stone is the son of the pastor of the local church. He was immersed in gospel from an early age until he found funk and soul as a teenager through Stevie Wonder’s Innversions. Billboard has praised his “disarmingly soulful vocals” and WXPN says "his energetic shows, plus his warm and evocative albums, explain why Stone has such a solid fan base". Allen released his 3rd studio album called Building Balance that includes hit songs Brown Eyed Lover, Sunny Days, and Consider Me. He has performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, as well as the Special Olympics opening ceremony, NPR’s Tiny Desk, and has been a guest mentor on American Idol.
