Event Details

Celebrated for her rich storytelling and glossy vocals, Ghanian-born, Melbourne artist AKOSIA is releasing her long-awaited debut EP BLACK DIAMOND  on Friday, November 18. A master of capturing emotion into song, AKOSIA is poised as one of Australia’s most compelling and honest voices. Her raw, human experience and artistic soul permeates each song on the 7 track debut, a candid and captivating reflection of the last two years which stretched AKOSIA to the limits of her emotional abilities. Brought to life in AKOSIA’s hometown of Melbourne, AKOSIA calls the creative process behind BLACK DIAMOND a “spiritual practice”. “When you’re hungry, you go eat. When I get the call to create, I write. It’s more like a spiritual practice. I don’t like to force it; I try to keep it pure.”

Celebrating the release of this EP, AKOSIA will be bringing her captivating live show to the stage of the Night Cat, performing the EP live for the first time alongside special guests and friends.

AKOSIA, as an artist, is defiant. She defies genres with her raw mix of pop, jazz, soul, dance, and R&B. She defies labels as a singer, piano player, model, actress, songwriter, storyteller, and master of emotions. And she defies the odds, carving her

own path as a Black woman in the Australian music industry. This debut performance of this body of work is not one to miss, as AKOSIA will not only sing the house down, but the curation of all things performance will create a  jaw dropping spectacle that can't be described by words.
