For the last two years AGAPANTHER have been making a name for themselves in the SA music scene, with their indie-punk attitude and energetic live shows. This time has seen the Adelaide four-piece share the stage with WAAX, Sly Withers, The Dead Love, Eliza and The Delusionals and local legends Sleep Talk. With big plans for 2020, including playing with Wavves (US), Whatever, Forever (NSW) and scheduling their first music festival, they unfortunately came to a halt. However, AGAPANTHER is rising from the ashes of 2020 with the release of their debut EP ‘Overdue,’ ready to take on 2021.
‘Overdue’ by name and nature, the EP explores past stories of vocalist Kyle, with the title taking on a second context due to the unexpected latency of the release. Loss, grief, anger, safety, frustration, love, outlook - ‘Overdue’ takes listeners on a wild ride, with every song refreshingly different, while remaining 100% AGAPANTHER.
The boys are ready to jump back on stage in celebration of the EP at Lion Arts Factory on January 16th with some of SA’s finest acts. Emo quintet Superdose Gangway, indie-rock trio Mum Friends and alt-rock newcomers Coldwave.
