A Tribute to Cannonball Adderley - The Pete Jeavons Sextet
Born on Sep 15th 1928, alto saxophonist Julian 'Cannonball' Adderley is one of the giants of Jazz. His music, infused with natural lyricism, grooves hard and oozes soul. The Pete Jeavons Sextet, featuring Daniel Hart on alto sax, will pay tribute to cannonball at The Duke of George on Thursday August 8th, just 5 weeks shy of what would have been Cannonball's 91st Birthday, had his life and career not been cut short at the young age of 46. It is incredible to realise that Cannonball's legacy was all created in a touring and recording career that lasted only 20 years.
This tribute will feature music composed and/or made famous by Cannonball across many different periods of his career, performed by some of Perth's finest jazz musicians.
