Triple j‘s longtime Mornings host, Zan Rowe, has announced that she is leaving the station for a new role at the broadcaster’s sister station, Double J.
In an emotional speech to listeners, Rowe revealed that after 13 years in her “dream job” at triple j, she’s moving on to a new dream gig at Double J, as well as a position as the ABC‘s Music Correspondent.
“When I got this job, I really didn’t know that what it would come with was such an incredible national community of listeners who went with me down that musical rabbit hole, who trusted me and — best of all — who had a passion for sound as furious as mine,” Rowe said.
“You have made my time here so incredible… You just came with me, and you followed me down all the weird music I gave to you, and shared it, and that’s exactly why I do radio and exactly why I love doing this show, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Rowe has hosted Mornings for a little over 10 years, and her final show will be on Friday, 15th December. She’ll then take to the airwaves in 2018 for a new Double J show from 9am to 12pm weekdays.
Her podcast with Myf Warhust, Bang On, will return in January, while Dr. Karl will remain on triple j Mornings alongside its new host.
