Creed Frontman Says He’s Penniless, Homeless And “Under Attack”

In a 15-minute video posted to social media, Creed frontman Scott Stapp has said that he is now broke and living in a Holiday Inn, after being robbed of his royalties and savings.

Stapp’s video (below), titled “Scott Stapp of Creed, Public Statement #1?, was posted to the Creed Facebook page, and shows the singer speaking to camera about various rumours which have surrounded him as of late. “First I was dead, then that came out, obviously, that that was a hoax,” Stapp says.

“Then there were rumours that I am on drugs and drinking and relapsed and in rehab… That’s also a lie. It’s not true. I’m sober as can be.”

Stapp goes on to recount a series of events which he says have left him “completely penniless”. “Right now I’m under some kind of pretty vicious attack,” he says, before detailing a recent self-audit of his record company and personal finances.

“A lot of money was stolen from me, or royalties not paid, and that’s when all hell began to break lose,” Stapp adds. He later suggests people from his former label are amongst those responsible.

Stapp claims the IRS has frozen his bank accounts multiple times, and that someone recently accessed his bank account and took all of his money. He says he went two days without food after the robbery, and ended up in an emergency room.

Stapp also claims he was threatened by certain individuals who will “humiliate” him for making his discoveries public. He concludes the video by asking any honest and willing attorneys for help. “I’m gonna fight every single individual who is responsible for this,” he says. “I’m going to let the world know everything that’s been done to me over the last nine weeks.”

Creed have been on hiatus since 2012. Stapp released his second solo album, Proof of Life, in 2013.
