Watch: The Rubens New Music Video ‘Lay It Down’
Written by Marc Zanotti on 14th February, 2013
The Rubens recently released a new music video for their single Lay It Down. Directed by Melvin J Montaban and starring Abbie Cornish (Limitless, Sucker Punch) the fresh clip sees The Rubens banging through their emotive track in torrential rain and rising flood waters.
One of the first tracks that brought the Sydney band national exposure, Lay It Down rose out of triple j’s Unearthed and helped the band take out the 2012 J Award for Unearthed Artist of the Year. The single went on to be voted in at #57 in the 2011 Hottest 100.
Those familiar with Lay It Down will notice some slight alterations to the song, with the music video using the more polished version from The Rubens’ self-titled debut album, which was also nominated in the 2012 J Awards for Album of the Year.
It seems that The Ruben’s can do no wrong, with single My Gun coming #10 and The Best We Got #66 in 2012 Hottest 100, and the local indie rock act wowing crowds during the recently passed St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival. It looks like 2013 promises to be another big one for The Rubens.
