Just a day after their rare acoustic performance for triple j’s Like A Version, UK duo Royal Blood have shared the bloody and partially animated video for Out Of The Black, which was directed by Adult Swim‘s Christy Karacas and illustrator David Wilson.
The video stars a giant bunny and its band of unsavoury friends who run into trouble with the law. The ensuing antics soon get animated, literally, and very bloody. For the video the band collaborated with creator of Adult Swim‘s Superjail! Christy Karacas and illustrator David Wilson who has also worked on videos for Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire and Tame Impala.
“I animated much of the action ‘straight ahead’ and let the music dictate the movements and ideas in a stream of consciousness way as opposed to pre-planning everything from the start,” Karacas said in a statement, via NME. “The unrelenting rhythm of the bass and drums of this song had everything to do with the animation that seemed to just flow out of my fingertips.”
Royal Blood are currently in Australia and will continue their tour with the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival as it heads to Melbourne and Fremantle this weekend.
