Footage has emerged of paralympian Dylan Alcott crowd surfing his way to the front of Meredith Music Festival‘s Supernatural Amphitheatre on Saturday, to rap with Ghostface Killah. Alcott took to the stage to spit Method Man’s verse on the Wu-Tang Clan track Protect Ya Neck.
In the footage (below), Alcott tears into the verse as soon as he’s handed the mic, leaving the Meredith crowd to go absolutely wild. Alcott, who won gold with the Australian wheelchair basketball team in 2008, told the Herald Sun that Protect Ya Neck is the song he listens to before any match.
“I can’t believe I got the verse out perfectly,” Alcott said. “Sport is my comfort zone. Rapping on stage is not.”
On Thursday, 11th December, only days before his Meredith performance, Alcott played a 24-hour tennis match for charity. “So what better way to unwind after 24 hours of world record breaking tennis than rapping your favourite verse, with one of your favourite rappers from your favourite group of all time,” Alcott posted on Facebook alongside another clip (below) of his Meredith performance.
The 2014 Meredith Music Festival wrapped up yesterday, after seeing sets from the likes of Ty Segall, The War On Drugs, De La Soul, Augie March and more. Ghostface Killah’s run of Australian headline shows continues until 21st December.
