Watch Nick Cave And Kylie’s First Performance Together In 15 Years

Nick Cave has shared a video of himself performing Where The Wild Roses Grow with Kylie Minogue during a 2013 gig at KOKO in London. Shot during the making of 20,000 Days on Earth, a documentary film focusing on Cave, the performance is the first time the two have shared the stage in 15 years.

According to 20,000 Days on Earth directors Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, the two requested that Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds play “an intimate club show” at KOKO during the production of the film. While working with Minogue, who appears in the film, Forsyth and Pollard asked the pop queen if she would like to attend the performance and join Cave for a performance of their infamous 1995 Murder Ballads duet.

“Kylie jumped at the chance, and a few weeks later walked out on stage and performed Where The Wild Roses Grow live with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds for the first time in 15 years,” the directors write. “This moment was such a highlight for everyone who was there that we wanted to share it with everyone.”

Amateur footage of the KOKO performance has been circulating on YouTube since late last year. Meanwhile, an infamous performance of what was at the time one of the most unlikely collaborations in Australian music at the 1996 Big Day Out made it into our list of the festival’s greatest hits.
