CHECK OUT THE LATEST
Foster the People‘s main man Mark Foster recently saw through his promise to reach the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Taking part in the Summit on the Summit hike, the musician became the latest in a line of impressive names to do so.
Reaching the peak, a crazy 16,000 feet up, Foster and fellow climber Kenna (singer) sent back a video checking in with civilization and giving a run-down of the situation. Kenna, who started the campaign back in 2010, seems to be handling it all pretty well, but Mark on the other hand seems to be enjoying the brief pause, but is remaining a good sport: “I’m definitely feeling slow,” he explains, “I’m always in the back of the pack, like, ‘Guys, wait for me’.”
According to Rolling Stone, the trek is inspired by the global water crisis. “We’re here to make a statement because the global clean water crisis is such a huge issue”, Kenna also states in the video. Foster now joins the ranks of names such as Jessica Biel, Emile Hirsch and Lupe Fiasco who have also reached the summit.
Kenna has his sights set on his next companion, namechecking Bono and even covering the U2 hit Gloria to get his attention: “Bono has always been my main source of inspiration,” says Kenna. “I can’t say I agree with everything Bono has done in history, but I do believe his focus has always been of great intent. He’s always speaking to a feeling and not necessarily to a definitive action that needs to be pursued on a political level.”
