Watch L-FRESH The LION Cover ‘The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air’ On ‘Like A Version’

Sydney MC L-FRESH The LION and his crew stopped by triple j this morning to deliver a fresh mix of The Fresh Prince theme song by DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince and Panjabi MC‘s Beware of the Boys, which features Jay-Z, for the Like A Version series.

Prior to revealing his chosen cover, the Sikh Hip Hop artist gave listeners a hint about what he was about to mash up with the clue that it would mix a little bit of himself with “Minneapolis’ finest.” Known for taking inspiration from his roots and where he grew up, L-FRESH then seamlessly melded Panjabi MC’s opening riff with the iconic theme song, even transforming the lyrics to reflect a bit of his own life.

In the L-FRESH The LION version, “West Philadelphia” became “South West Sydney” and his metaphorical Bel Air was represented by the triple j studios. The crew even enlisted the help of triple j Breakfast hosts Matt and Alex for some added vocals.

While he is known for his dedication to spirituality and peace, L-FRESH told the triple j hosts he also wants fans to know he and his crew also like to have fun, and judging by this cover, we have no doubt of that.

While in the studio, L-FRESH and his crew also delivered a heartfelt rendition of his own track Survive, which features on his latest album One. Check out both performances below.
