People say you should never meet your idols because they’ll only disappoint you, which is advice 13-year-old Bryce Hayashi is probably happy to have ignored after he recently encouraged renowned film composer John Williams out of his own house with a performance of the Star Wars theme song.
Hayashi and his friend Michael ‘Mickle’ Miller recently teamed up to perform a stirring trumpet and flugelhorn rendition of Williams’ famous theme from Star Wars outside the composer’s house. Footage of the special moment (below) eventually sees Williams come out of his house to great the pair, before saying, “As I started to listen I thought, ‘Oh they’ll never make it,’ but then they did.”
Steven Spielberg’s right-hand-man when it comes to music and the composer of countless iconic soundtracks including Indiana Jones, E.T., Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Jaws, 84-year-old Williams knows his tunes, so getting him out of his own home is high praise indeed.
The video of Hayashi and Miller, seeming shot by a neighbour, is some serious feels-inducing stuff, especially for those of us who grew up with Williams’ music sound-tracking our early cinema experiences. Experience the heart-melting moment for yourself, below.
