Watch Foo Fighters Get Funky With 10-Minute ‘This Is A Call’ Trombone Jam

What could be better than the Foo Fighters turning their 20-year old track This Is A Call into a 10-minute trombone driven jam? Nothing, that’s what.

OK, so maybe the jam isn’t quite 10 mins but that doesn’t diminish any of the funkiness that occurred after Foo’s frontman Dave Grohl invited Troy ‘Trombone Shorty’ Andrews to the stage during their headlining set at Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans.

A few minutes into This Is A Call the band slowed things down so Grohl could address the crowd, informing fans that the Foos passed through town a couple months earlier to record a track, In the Clear, at New Orleans Preservation Hall for their upcoming album Sonic Highways.

In the Clear was recorded with the help of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, from which Grohl befriended Andrews. Anyways to cut to the chase when Trombone Shorty joins the Foos onstage things become a hip-shaking, head-banging fusion of funk and rock.

Foo Fighters’ new album Sonic Highways is due out Monday, 10th November. The Foos are set to arrive in Australia in February next year to begin their 2015 Australian tour. You can also catch Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue at Bluesfest 2015.
