Watch Duff McKagan & Krist Novoselic Perform ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’, On Accordion

Nirvana and Guns N’ Roses have collided in the strangest of ways, via an accordion-driven rendition of the Gunners’ classic Sweet Child O’ Mine courtesy of Krist Novoselic and Duff McKagan.

The bass-slappin’ pals got together for the release party of Duff’s new memoir, How To Be A Man (And Other Illusions), with Krist whipping out a piano accordion to accompany Duff on bass for a spirited version of the Appetite For Destruction-era ballad, at at Seattle’s Neptune Theatre.

There’s no indication the guys shed any light on the song’s origin, though.

According to Rolling Stone, Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready also attended the release party for Duff’s second book, the follow-up to his It’s So Easy (And Other Lies) autobiography.

“It’s certainly not an instructional, how-to book,” 51-year-old bassist previously said of the memoir. “It’s an observational study and hopefully some humor in there. The ‘Other Illusions’ should be the headline.”

In addition to the book, McKagan also recorded an accompanying three-song EP, also titled How to Be a Man, the title track of which features McKagan’s fellow GN’R pal Izzy Stradlin, Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell and Stone Sour drummer Roy Mayorga.

So, where do we go now? Check out McKagan and Novoselic’s unique take on Sweet Child, below.
